My First String Camp: June 4-8

The Winters School of Music and Ministry Studies will host the sixth annual “My First String Camp” from June 4-8 at Thomas Fine Arts Center on the William Carey University campus in Hattiesburg. The camp is part of the 2018 Festival South activities taking place throughout the month of June.
The registration deadline for the camp is May 25. The cost is $160 or $80 for Hattiesburg Public School District students. All levels are welcome, no prior experience is necessary. Students may bring their own instruments or a limited number of instruments will be available to rent for $10 for the week.
The camp offers small and large classes for elementary students in grades 1-6. The camp includes enrichment activities, Suzuki method approach, violin, viola, cello, bass, music theory, and much more. Classes are held from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Lunch is offered every day until 12:45 for an additional $30.
Camp faculty members include Blanca Berdion, Gladys Gonzalez, Rebecca Hale, and Daniela Pardo, violin, viola; Andrea Beltran Landers, cello; and Samuel Dahmer, bass.
