The degrees offered in the School of Business include a Bachelor of Science in Business (B.S.B.) with majors in Business Administration and Cross Cultural Business Management as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. The Business Administration major offers concentrations in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance, International Business, Management/Marketing, and Workforce Training and Management. Students who choose a concentration in Accounting are eligible to sit for the CPA exam in Mississippi and the Cross Cultural Business Management major combines the general education requirements for a B.S.B. with 48 hours of business courses and 30 hours of Intercultural Studies to meet the need for entrepreneurial mission work. Our programs focus on building leadership abilities and communication skills through a solution-oriented curriculum. Students graduate from the William Carey School of Business with the decision-making skills they need to succeed in any field they choose.


Meet the Dean

Dr. Robert Thompson

Dr. Robert J. Thompson, CHA, TMP is a seasoned leader in the hospitality and tourism industry with over 30 years of professional experience in premier destination markets including Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, and the Gulf Coast. He has held leadership roles as a hotel general manager, cruise director, country club manager, and director of development, and spent two decades in corporate marketing with Wyndham Worldwide, Inc.

Dr. Thompson holds the Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation from the American Hotel & Lodging Association and is a Tourism Marketing Professional (TMP) through the Southeast Tourism Society. He earned his MBA with an emphasis in Hospitality and Tourism from the University of Guelph and a PhD in Human Capital Development from The University of Southern Mississippi.

Recently, Dr. Thompson was named one of the 30 Most Influential Hospitality Educators in 2023 by the International Hospitality Institute. He serves on multiple international advisory and editorial boards, has guest lectured for universities across India, and is a frequent keynote speaker for global conferences.
