The Student Foundation is a
group of student leaders dedicated
to helping other students by raising
money for scholarships. In two
years, the Student Foundation has
raised nearly $17,500. As a result,
the Student Foundation was able to
grant its first scholarship to Ashley
Houston, an education major. As
part of the overall fundraising
effort, the Student Foundation and
the cross country team hosted the
st Annual 5K Race and 1 Mile
Fun Run/Walk on April 21 during
homecoming. Over 50 participated
in the race.
Of the five “presidential
candidates” who raised money
for scholarships, Nafiyah Younes,
a senior psychology major, raised
the most money and was named
President for a Day on May 1. As
President for a Day, she called an
administrative council meeting,
parked in the president’s parking
space, and ate in the president’s
dining room. Temporarily out of a
job as president, Dr. Tommy King
attended Nafiyah’s genetics class.
