The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music is a more general, less specialized degree program. The students must complete the music core, music major, and upper level elective coursework. This study, coupled with an outside minor such as business, psychology, foreign language, or theatre, allows for a greater diversification of possible career choices. Music Education at William Carey is the largest program in our school of music. Students that graduate from Carey Music are prepared for work in psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitative facilities, medical hospitals, outpatient clinics, day care treatment centers, community mental health centers, drug and alcohol programs, senior centers, nursing homes, hospice programs, and more!

The Bachelor of Science in Music program at William Carey University is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in music. The program offers a variety of concentrations, including music education, music therapy, performance, and worship leadership. Students in the program have the opportunity to study with world-renowned faculty, perform in ensembles, and participate in internships.

A Bachelor of Science in Music can prepare you for a variety of careers in the music industry, including:

  • Worship Leader: Developed with today’s full time and bivocational worship leader in mind. This is a growing field, as churches are increasingly looking for qualified individuals to lead their worship services. With a BS in Music, you will be well-equipped to lead congregational singing, play instruments, and create worship music. 
  • Worship Technology Director: Developed with today’s full time and bivocational worship technology director in mind. This degree is designed with free electives to use for a Minor or a Second Major!
  • Music producer: Music producers are responsible for overseeing the recording and production of music. With a BS in Music, you will have the skills necessary to work with artists, engineers, and other musicians to create high-quality recordings.
  • Music educator: Music educators teach music in schools, colleges, and community organizations. With a BS in Music, you will be qualified to teach a variety of music classes, including music theory, ear training, and performance.
