Mentor Teacher Institute

  1. Teacher Residency Program
  2. Mentor Teacher Institute

Dates coming soon for 2022 Conference!

Mentor Teacher Institute, July 14-15, 2021

Carey Teacher Residency seeks to enrich the clinical experience for cooperating teachers through the Mentor Teacher Institute.

Through collaborative partnerships with local schools and districts, CTR seeks to enhance the student teaching experience and ensure equity, excellence, and engagement in education. The 2021 Institute will include a 2-day summer symposium on the Tradition Campus, eight monthly webinars, and two seminars at the Tradition campus at the end of the 2021-22 traditional school year.

Benefits of mentoring preservice teachers include retention and consistency among educators (LoSciuto, Rajala, Townsend, & Taylor, 1996; Schwille, 2008). Mentoring programs increase job satisfaction and have a positive effect on student achievement and engagement (McPartland & Nettles, 1991).
