We continue to monitor daily the Covid-19 cases as reported by the Mississippi Department of Health. It has been our desire to offer the commencement ceremonies in a safe environment for our graduates and their guests. Regretfully, we have concluded that this is no longer possible at this time. The daily positive Covid-19 results rate in Mississippi have risen to levels that necessitate the postponement of all August commencement ceremonies. We will recognize graduates with a virtual commencement ceremony to be released on the WCU website on Friday, August 20. Although we would much prefer to have an actual ceremony on campus, we hope the virtual ceremony will provide some measure of validation and recognition for your hard work.

Here is what you need to do to help us prepare for your commencement:

  1. Please send a recent photo (or make one with your phone) that we can display as your name is read during the virtual ceremony. Label the photo file like this--First Name Last Name, August 2021--and send the file to gradphoto@wmcarey.edu, no later than Monday, August 16.   If we do not have a photo to display, your name will be read your name without a photo. We suggest that you ask someone to take the photo rather than doing a selfie.

  1. For the photo, you may either wear graduation apparel or other appropriate dress (at a minimum, a blouse or collared shirt, no t-shirts please). If you purchased your regalia through the bookstore, we will reimburse you for the cost. Please send a copy of your invoice to cfo@wmcarey.edu and include your mailing address.

  1. You are welcome to visit campus to take photographs at outdoor locations, but the bookstore will not provide a photography service. Be aware that distancing is to be practiced indoors and out of doors on campus; masks are required in all buildings and when within 6 feet of another person outside.

  1. Most important of all--you will need to let the Registrar know your current address for mailing your diploma.  Use the following link to let us know. The form also asks you how your name should appear on the diploma and the address for mailing it: August 2021 WCU Diploma Address Request (wmcarey.edu)
