WCU Newspaper Staff Members Honored
Hattiesburg, Miss., June 13, 2012 - Three William Carey University students were recently honored for their work on The Cobbler, the university's student newspaper.
Joseph Jones, Kelsey Wells, and Christopher Dixon were presented with certificates by The Cobbler Editor-in-Chief Joshua Wilson at the newspaper's end-of-the-year party in May.
Jones, of Petal, was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his service as sports editor during the 2011-2012 school year. Jones graduated from WCU in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science and English and will attend the University of Mississippi School of Law.
Wells, a senior mass communications major from Monticello, was named as one of the newspaper's outstanding staff members of the year. She has served as managing editor since October 2011 and previously served as campus life editor.
Dixon, a junior English major from Vancleave, was also named as an outstanding staff member of the year. He has served as views editor since January 2012 and previously served as a staff writer.
"Working with Joseph, Kelsey, and Christopher has been great," said Wilson. "They are always willing to go above and beyond in their duties with the newspaper and definitely deserve the awards they were given."
