The William Carey University admissions office will host the 9th annual Pine Belt College Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Conference Center, located in Wilkes Hall on the Hattiesburg campus.
Students will have the opportunity to visit with 30 college and military representatives to explore admissions requirements and deadlines, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and campus visit dates. It also allows the students to develop a rapport with the recruiter from his or her college choice.
"The Pine Belt College Fair has grown from 22 to 28 high schools and academies and serves as the largest college fair in the state. I am thrilled that students from an 11-county area will join us at WCU to finalize scholarship opportunities," said Director of Admissions Alissa King. "This fair will allow students to visit with more college choices, save fellow colleagues on travel expenses, and most importantly, assist our high school counselors with the coordination of the fair. It benefits everyone participating. I have already received inquiries from high schools that want to attend next year and hope that the college fair continues to grow."
Madison Peyton, WCU student and the reigning Miss William Carey University, remembers attending the college fair during her senior year at FCAHS. "I enjoyed being exposed to a variety of schools and programs during the program and learning what each could offer. The information that I received at the fair helped me solidify William Carey University as my college choice."
The following 28 high schools and academies will be in attendance: Bassfield High School, Bay Springs High School, Collins High School, Columbia Academy, Columbia High School, East Marion High School, Forrest County Agricultural High School, Lamar Christian School, Laurel Christian School, Lumberton High School, North Forrest High School, Northeast Jones High School, Petal High School, Prentiss Christian School, Prentiss High School, Presbyterian Christian School, Purvis High School, Richton High School, Sacred Heart High School, Seminary High School, Simpson Academy, South Jones High School, St. Patrick Catholic High School, Sumrall High School, Sylva Bay Academy, Youth Challenge Academy, Wayne County High School, and Wayne Academy.
