WCU Holds Summer Softball Camp
Hattiesburg, MS, June 13, 2014 - William Carey University held the annual Softball Day Camp at Carey's Kennedy Sports Complex, June 10-12, allowing girls of all ages to learn new techniques and practice their game. The camp was instructed by WCU Head Softball Coach Wendy Hogue along with Assistant Coach Craig Fletcher and a group of current and former Carey softball players.
The camp for girls ages 8-12 was held from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., and the one for ages 13-18 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Coach Hogue said that the camp covers all aspects of the game of softball, from throwing to catching, hitting to running, and introduces the young girls to the game of fastpitch. On Thursday, both groups of campers were split into teams to play games of fastpitch softball, and friends and family were invited to attend.
WCU will hold another softball day camp for the 13-18 age group June 17-19. Sessions will be 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. for one group and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. for the second group. The registration fee is $100, which includes camp insurance, a t-shirt, and lunch. Those interested can fill out an application at www.careyathletics.com.
