Metropolitan Club Endows Scholarship at WCU

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 14, 2014 - The Hattiesburg Metropolitan Club (HMC) Endowed Scholarship has been established at William Carey University (WCU). A generous donation from HMC will fund the perpetual endowment, which will award one scholarship per academic year to a deserving student at William Carey University who meets certain criteria.

The criteria include at least a 2.7 cumulative grade point average; sophomore, junior or senior classification; and a demonstrated record of personal merit and need. The student must also be from Forrest or Lamar counties. HMC members presented their donation to Dr. Scott Hummel, WCU provost, on April 9 after enjoying lunch and a tour of the WCU campus. Club members also heard from Hummel on recent projects and the university’s growth along with a presentation from Athletic Director Steve Knight on athletic programs.
