Carey Dinner Theatre presents “Clue: The Musical”
Carey Dinner Theatre will open its 51st season with a comedy, “Clue: The Musical.” This family-friendly, fast-paced show is based on the game night classic by Parker Brothers. Performances are scheduled July 10-26 at Joe & Virginia Tatum Theatre on William Carey University’s Hattiesburg campus.
Like the ever-popular board game, “Clue: The Musical” brings the world’s best-known suspects to life and invites the audience to figure out who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room, and with what weapon?
Clues come in the form of funny, clever songs like “Life is a Bowl of Pits,” “The Game,” “Once a Widow,” and “She Hasn’t Got a Clue.”
Audience members become arm chair sleuths as they unravel a murder mystery that has 216 possible solutions – when you factor in all possible combinations. Fans of the board game will easily recognize the suspects: Mr. Boddy, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, and the Detective.
Released in 1949, the Clue board game became a world-wide sensation. In 1985, it was made into a major motion picture. In 1990, a British game show. In 1993, “Clue: The Musical” premiered at the New Boston Street Dinner Theatre in Maryland.
Carey Dinner Theatre gives rising young artists professional production experience. The 51st anniversary company includes students from Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, North Carolina – and one cast member from Guatemala.
Besides performing onstage and working behind the scenes, company members serve tables during dinner, giving the audience a chance to meet them.
Tickets for “Clue: The Musical” are $40 and include dinner, show, and sales tax. Performances will be July 10-26 except Sundays and Mondays. A buffet-style meal is served at 6:30 p.m. and the show follows. Starting June 30, the box office will be open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Call (601) 318-6221 to make reservations.
