McSwain receives Hub Award Leadership Scholarship
Trinity McSwain, a senior at William Carey University, received a Hub Award Leadership Scholarship during the Hub Award Gala Nov. 17 at Hattiesburg’s Lake Terrace Convention Center.
The annual gala honors people who have made significant contributions to the community and raises money for the Pinebelt Foundation’s Hub Award Endowment, which supports scholarships for students at WCU and The University of Southern Mississippi.
“Trinity is a great representative of William Carey University and is truly deserving of this award. She is not only active on campus in many organizations, but she serves her community and abroad in missions just as Christ did. We are very proud of her,” said WCU President Dr. Ben Burnett.
A double major in Spanish and Intercultural Studies, McSwain is president of the WCU American Chemical Society and serves as secretary of both the Pre-Medical Club and Pre-Physical Therapy Club.
McSwain is actively involved with William Carey’s Baptist Student Union and hosts Backyard Bible Club around the community. She teaches children from financially disadvantaged households weekly at United Christian Academy. While remaining active in these organizations, she also holds a work study position in the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s anatomy lab and has served on medical and construction missions in Guatemala through Baptist Medical Dental Missions International.
During the ceremony, one student from WCU and one student from USM received Hub Award Leadership Scholarships. The recipient from USM was Ashley Lankford.
