William Carey University and the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board hosted the Christian-Related Vocations Banquet Sept. 13 at Tatum Court. The annual event celebrates students who have made public commitments to become missionaries, pastors, or church leaders.
The students receive Ministerial Aid Scholarships from the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.
“Imagine millions of believers all over the country combining their resources to accomplish making Jesus known to the nations. The Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program makes global missions, church-planting, disaster relief, and Christian education possible,” said Dr. Brett Golson, WCU vice president for spiritual development and dean of the Cooper School of Missions and Ministry Studies.
“The Mississippi Baptist Convention does more in missions, relief and Christian education than any state I know. Our students are blessed with financial support as they prepare for ministry. We are thankful to all Mississippi Baptist churches and the leaders of our convention.”
Two representatives of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB) attended the banquet: Dr. John Pace, director of the Leadership Department; and Rev. Greg Barker, pastoral ministries consultant. Both spoke with students about MBCB ministries. Dr. Pace delivered a message about what it means to surrender to the calling God places on our lives.
