WCU's 74,000-square-foot College of Health Sciences Building is set to open in 2021.
The College of Health Sciences at William Carey University announces a record-breaking enrollment for the fall 2020 term. As of Aug. 12, a total of 1,015 students had enrolled with almost two weeks left before the start of fall classes on Aug. 24.
Overall, enrollment has doubled over the last five years.
Building on its historical foundation, the Joseph and Nancy Fail School of Nursing, the College of Health Sciences added new options for students – pharmacy, physical therapy, health information management, and health administration and education. Health care programs are available at WCU’s Hattiesburg, Biloxi and Baton Rouge campuses.
“We are thrilled in this time of crisis for our country that we are able to allow students to move forward with their educational needs,” said Dr. Janet Williams, associate vice president for health programs.
Due to the growth of the College of Health Sciences, and a simultaneous enrollment expansion authorized for the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine, a 74,000-square-foot College of Health Sciences Building is under construction at the Hattiesburg campus.
When completed in 2021, it will house the School of Nursing and all other Hattiesburg campus health programs except for the medical school, which will expand into the buildings vacated by the College of Health Sciences – Fail-Asbury Hall, Mary Ross Hall and Thomas Hall.
