The American Academy of Osteopathy has named Dr. Frank Goodman its 2020 Resident of the Year.
Goodman, a 2018 graduate of William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine, is currently a second-year resident at Oklahoma State University Family Medicine in Tulsa.
He applies osteopathic principles and practices daily during his rotations. In his specialty, Goodman maintains a continuity panel of obstetric patients that exceeds standard residency duties. He provides distinctive osteopathic care to women and their newborn children, providing osteopathic manipulative treatment to both mothers and babies throughout the pregnancy and after delivery.
The eleventh osteopathic resident to receive this award, Goodman has also shared his osteopathic knowledge, instructing medical students in the classroom and on clinical rotations.
“I am extremely proud of Dr. Goodman, and all of our alumni, who are making invaluable contributions in this time of crisis,” said Dr. Italo Subbarao, dean of the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine.
“Dr. Goodman was an outstanding student and will be an even more outstanding physician. I look forward to seeing the growth in his career. He is ‘Carey strong’ and we congratulate him on earning this national recognition.”
During his time at WCU, Goodman served as chapter president and national coordinator for the Student American Academy of Osteopathy. He also organized a regional conference hosted by WCUCOM, bringing together students from three osteopathic medical schools, as well as local medical residents.
