WCU: 2020 College Raptor "Hidden Gem"
William Carey University has, once again, been selected as a “Southeast Hidden Gem” by College Raptor, a leading college planning platform that helps families discover the best colleges at the best prices. College Raptor released its 2020 rankings earlier this month.
“Finding hidden gem schools for students is core to how we help families discover great college choices. We take pride in making it easy for students to make those connections by highlighting excellent schools like William Carey,” said Bill Staib, CEO of College Raptor.
This selection recognizes WCU as one of the best campuses in the country, based on a combination of factors, including number of applications received, graduation rates, campus diversity, endowment per student, and student-faculty ratio, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics for the most recently available year.
As a new fall trimester began last month, WCU reported new growth in several areas:
- The College of Health Sciences reported an enrollment increase of 20 percent in the total number of undergraduate nursing students this fall – and an overall increase of 20 percent in the College of Health Sciences.
- The WCU School of Education saw a 25 percent increase in undergraduate education majors and received a $600,000 grant from the Mississippi Department of Education to pilot a teacher-residency program in partnership with two school districts on the Gulf Coast.
- Earlier this month, the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine was authorized to double the size of its incoming class over the next three years.
“We are pleased to see an outside, independent rating service recognize William Carey University as a ‘Hidden Gem’ for the third consecutive year,” said WCU President Dr. Tommy King.
“It is our goal to give our students a quality education at an affordable price, and it is nice to see that College Raptor has identified us among the best in the Southeast U.S."
