William Carey University will award degrees to more than 450 students during four commencement ceremonies Aug. 10-11. All ceremonies will be at the Thomas Fine Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus.

This summer’s enrollment increased 2.3 percent over summer 2017. Combined with spring commencement, WCU will graduate more than 1,000 students for the eighth consecutive academic year.

“We are pleased with the growth of enrollment,” said WCU President Dr. Tommy King. “This continues the trend of modest enrollment increases that we have seen over the past decade and is a further indication that the programs we provide are meeting the needs of our region.”

The commencement schedule and guest speakers are:

  • Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. – Commencement for doctoral candidates (education and nursing) and education specialist students from the Hattiesburg campus. The guest speaker will be Dr. Thomas Huebner, president of Meridian Community College.

  • Saturday, Aug. 11 at 9:30 a.m. – Commencement for master’s degree students from the Hattiesburg campus. The guest speaker will be Dr. Sharon Dungan, retired Jefferson Davis County superintendent of schools.
