Meet the Director

Dr. Shanda Bourne-Price

Dr. Shanda Bourne-Price was appointed Director of Health Administration and Education in October 2021. In January 2026, the program transitioned into the Department of Health Professions, where she currently oversees and teaches in the Healthcare Administration and Education (HAE) bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs as well as the Health Professions program.

Dr. Bourne-Price brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience, having worked in a variety of hospital and clinical settings. Her professional nursing background includes Medical–Surgical Nursing, Telemetry, Postpartum, Well Baby Nursery, Skilled Nursing, and Long-Term Acute Care. After serving one year as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty member at William Carey University, Dr. Bourne-Price accepted a full-time faculty position in the School of Nursing in 2017. During her tenure in the nursing department, she taught undergraduate courses in Assessment and Health Promotion and Gerontology, as well as RN-to-BSN and HAE master’s program courses.

A proud William Carey University alumna, Dr. Bourne-Price earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education and Administration in 2020. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, the Mississippi Nurses Association (District 7), and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). In addition, she serves as a nurse planner and nurse peer reviewer and contributes her expertise through service on several health-related advisory boards.
