How to Apply for Your License

1. Create Your MECCA Profile
Go to https://mecca.mdek12.org. Under “My MECCA,” click Create a MECCA Profile to set up your account. (You cannot move forward until your recommendation is submitted.)

2. Submit a Recommendation Request
Complete the Recommendation Request Form for Licensure and submit it to Mr. Greer.

3. Order Official Transcripts
Order your official transcripts through Parchment (https://www.parchment.com) and have them sent to transcript@mdek12.org. Ensure your degree is conferred and final grades are posted on your official transcript (not Canvas) before ordering. Clear any business holds to avoid delays.

4. Wait for Your Recommendation
Recommendations are processed in the order received and typically take 2–4 weeks. Missing Praxis scores, transcripts, or other required documents will delay processing. If you do not see your recommendation within three weeks, contact Mr. Greer. Some delays may be due to MDE processing times.

5. Complete Your MECCA Application
Once notified that your recommendation has been submitted, log in to MECCA, select “Applications,” and complete your portion, including the Character Traits Analysis, Verification of Lawful Presence, and Degree Application. Instructions are provided within MECCA.

6. Work Directly with MDE
After submitting your application, communicate directly with the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) regarding your license. WCU recommends candidates but does not issue licenses. Technical issues must be addressed with MDE.

7. Add Endorsements
Endorsements are added after your license is issued. For approved programs, submit another recommendation request. For regular programs, submit a request through your MECCA account.

8. “AA” Endorsement
The “AA” endorsement may be added only after you receive your five-year license and your master’s degree has been conferred.
