Melanie Wiseheart

Bio

Melanie Wiseheart, MMT, MT-BC, is a board-certified music therapist with over ten years of experience in mental health, medical care, neurorehabilitation, addictions treatment, palliative and end of life care, developmental care for individuals with disabilities, and neuro-affirmative wellness for autistic individuals. Mrs. Wiseheart joined the Winters School of Music faculty in 2022 and oversees music therapy core curriculum, teaches music therapy courses, supervises clinical practica, and supports the William Carey University Student Music Therapy Organization.

Mrs. Wiseheart holds a Master of Music Therapy from Augsburg University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Evansville. Mrs. Wiseheart enjoys scholarly writing and regularly shares her work at professional conferences. Her most recent research focuses on reflective practice in music therapy in the U.S. She is also an active member of the Mississippi Music Therapy State Task Force, where she advocates for title protection and expansion of quality music therapy services for all Mississippians.

In her free time, Mrs. Wiseheart volunteers her time in the music and children’s ministries at her local church. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young daughters, playing sports and board games, reading, and cheering for Indiana Hoosiers basketball.
