Katrina Cox

Bio

A native of Laurel, MS, earned a Bachelor of Music degree at William Carey University, a Master of Music from the State University of NY-Binghamton, and a Doctor of Musical Arts at The University of Southern Mississippi.  In NY, she performed with Tri-Cities Opera, the Big Band Jazz Ensemble, “Harpur Jazz”, and Opera North in New Hampshire. Dr. Cox toured through Southern Tier, NY with her jazz band, “The New Standard” from 07-09. She worked for the Laurel School district as an elementary music teacher and the high school choral director from 13-18. She has performed with the Southern Opera and Music Theater in many mainstage productions during her graduate studies. She has been a featured vocalist with Partners for the Arts Gala 19-20, the MS Opera in ‘21 and ‘23, MS Miss Hospitality in 22-24, and Festival South Headliner 22-23. She was also the featured vocalist on the book release tour of Dr. Mark Malone’s “William Levi Dawson: American Music Educator”; as well as a featured artists for museums in Mississippi and Louisiana. Dr. Cox is an Assistant Professor of Music and Carpenter’s Wood and Musical Theatre director at WCU, Winters School of Music.
