Christina Mathis

Bio

Dr. Christina Mathis began studying piano at the age of six and immediately fell in love! Christina holds degrees from Judson College, Liberty University, and The University of Southern Mississippi. She is also a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano.

Christina’s extensive teaching experience ranges from preschool through advanced, precollege through doctoral students. She thrives on bringing music to life for her students and introducing even the youngest learners to the joys of playing the piano. She is an enthusiastic teacher and is dedicated to reversing the negative connotation so often associated with piano pedagogy.

As a collaborator, Christina has played for choirs, soloists, and instrumentalists across the southeast and is passionate about highlighting the works of lesser known female composers.

Dr. Mathis oversees the collaborative and pedagogy areas, is the director of the Carey Music Academy where she maintains a thriving pre-college studio, and is the creator and host of the Coffee with Christina podcast where she shares insights on how to create a balanced life as a musician.
