Cara Williams

Bio

Dr. Cara Williams serves as Instructor of Voice at William Carey’s Winters School of Music. A specialist in florid music, she made her professional debut with the New Orleans Opera Association as Ida in Die Fledermaus. She has performed leading roles throughout the United States, appearing as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, and La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi. In addition to operatic and musical theater roles, Dr. Williams is an active concert performer. She has performed in masterclasses with Susan Graham, Deborah Voigt, Lucas Meachem, and Brad Moore. She holds a Doctorate of Music in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University, where she studied voice with Robert Grayson and Paul Groves, a Master of Music in Opera Performance from Arizona State University, where she studied with Judy May, and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Southeastern Louisiana University, where she studied with Alissa Rowe. Before attending Southeastern, she attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. Dr. Williams is an active member of NATS and has lectured at the 2024 Southern Regional NATS Conference and the 2024 Mississippi NATS Conference. She is a certified lecturer on topics of vocal health with the Louisiana State Bar Association. Her students have been winners in regional competitions and frequently appear in leading roles in stage and film productions. Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Williams enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her husband, son, and adopted greyhound.
