Current Priority Projects

William Carey University is coming back “Carey Strong”. What an exciting time at William Carey University as a number of special projects are underway. The campus is changing and taking on a completely new look. There are many ways in which you can made a difference as you make contributions to one or more of these great projects.

Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all areas that you may contribute, but simply a highlight of several large projects currently under way.

Science Building:

Biology Lab

The new 5,866-square-foot biology lab building includes three labs and five faculty offices. With the addition of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Carey’s biology and pre-med programs continue to grow. The number of biology majors increased from 87 majors in 2010 to 228 majors in fall 2015.

Academic Multipurpose Facility

Academic/Multi-Purpose Facility

This building was constructed to provide academic space following the tornado and during construction of the new Asbury Academic Building. The space currently includes two lecture halls, five classrooms, and 12 offices. Upon completion of the Asbury Building in summer 2018, the space will be reconfigured as a band hall, dance studio and classrooms. The building is located next to the new Waddle Sports Facility and the new track on County Drive.

Administrative Building--- New Tatum

The new Tatum Court administrative building will reflect the design of the historic Tatum Court that was a total loss after the January 21, 2017 tornado. The new 28,909 square-foot building will meet ADA requirements and include the offices for the president, provost, academic affairs, finance/business, financial aid, registrar, and human resources. Additional features include a board room, conference rooms, reception and lounge areas. The third floor will provide much-needed space for hosting meetings and special events.

New Athletic Facilities---Gym Annex

The 12,388-square-foot gym addition includes locker rooms, a workout facility for student athletes, a conference room and coaches’ offices. This building is complete and will be ready for use in the 2017-18 school year.

Scholarship Dinner

One of the largest and most formal events hosted at William Carey University is the annual Scholarship Dinner. This function is designed to raise funds to support student scholarships at the university. The dinner allows donors to contribute toward a fund of their choice or to give unrestricted funds, and in return are able to attend this exclusive event, network, and listen to a first-class speaker. Previous speakers include Senator Trent Lott, Governor Phil Bryant and Chancellor Robert Khayat.
