1.) The Gaol. Near to the Gaol the Baptists held their first meetings in a private room on Friar Gate. 2.) Willow Row where the first Baptist sermon was preached on 31st May, 1789, by Rev. Dan Taylor, in the open air. 3.) Old St Helen's House the home of the painter Joseph Wright of Derby. 4.) St Alkmund's Church where it is probable that William Ward's parents were married. 5.) One of these buildings on St Michael's Lane is the Methodist Chapel where William and his mother worshipped. 6.) The Silk Mill. 7.) The Crown Derby Porcelain Works. 8.) The spot where the first baptisms took place in 1791. 9.) Derby Town Hall where Abiah Darby, the Quaker evangelist from Coalbrookdale, held the meeting that converted William Ward's mother to Christianity. 10.) The Independent Chapel on Brookside that Ward attended in his youth. 11.) The building on the corner of Irongate and Saddlergate where Ward was trained as a printer, and where he edited and printed the 'Derby Mercury'. 12.) All Saints Church, now Derby Cathedral.
