A model of a steam engine
dated 1821.
This is probably a working
model of the actual steam engine
that the missionaries imported form England in 1821.
It was to replace a human powered wheel that was used to crush
the
raw material for the Paper Mill.
This was the first steam
engine ever to be seen in India
and drew Indian and European spectators from
Serampore and Calcutta.
