A map showing the Serampore Mission in 1860-61

The building marked 'Baptist Chapel' is the Old Mission Chapel.
The building to the right of the Chapel was used by the second Serampore
Printing Office (the first burned down). The second Serampore Printing Office
closed in 1837 and the work was transferred to Calcutta.
Marked on this plan is another (smaller) printing office which
was probably used for College purposes.

The 'Paper Mill' was developed by John Clark Marshman and produced
'Serampore' paper, which used the missionaries' unique formula,
developed over many years, for resistence to attack by white ants.

The first steam engine ever to be seen in India was imported from
England in 1821 to be used in the Paper Mill.

The blue rectangular shapes probably indicate tanks of water.
