Dr. Ric Shrubb (’94),
president of Minnesota West
Community and Technical
College, has been awarded
a Fulbright Scholar grant
to exchange students and
agriculture faculty with
Russia to advance subsistence
farming techniques in Russia
during the 2013 academic
year. Shrubb is one of
approximately 1,100 U.S.
faculty and professionals who
will travel abroad through
the Fulbright U.S. Scholar
Program in 2013-2014.
Suzanne Allmon (’96), an
Oak Grove High School
drama teacher, received
the 2013 Alan R. Baron
Excellence in Teaching
Award. The award was
named for the late Alan
R. Barton, president of
Mississippi Power Company
from 1980-89.
Dr. Rhonda Smith (’96 &
’97) and Steven Tilly were
married May 11, 2012. Dr.
Tilly serves as a full-time
English instructor at Copiah-
Lincoln Community College
and occasionally teaches
education courses as an
adjunct for Carey. The couple
lives in Florence.
Karen Cole Toralba (’97
& ‘98) and her husband,
Ramon, announce the birth
of their daughter, Lailani. The
Toralba’s call her Lali, and
her name is Polynesian and
means “heavenly garland
of flowers.” Lali was born
February 9, 2013, and
weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz.
Dr. Adam Breerwood (’99)
has been selected as one of
Mississippi’s Top 40 Under
40. Breerwood serves as vice
president for the Poplarville
campus and Hancock Center
of Pearl River Community
Steven A. West (00’ & 04’)
accepted a position with
Sony Playstation in Foster
City, Calif.
Cynthia Dobbs ('01) married
Shawn Sutton on January 22,
2011, at Cedar Lake Christian
Assembly in Biloxi, Miss.
Cynthia Dobbs Sutton has
been promoted to events and
public relations manager at
the Ocean Springs Chamber
of Commerce-Main Street
Tourism Bureau.
Cecilia Dobbs ('01) and
Danny Walton were married
on September 22, 2011,
in Las Vegas, Nev., at the
Dale R. Clancy (’03) received
the Master of Divinity in
chaplaincy from Liberty
Baptist Theological Seminary
on September 03, 2012.
Robyn Killebrew (’03) has
been named head coach of
the South All-Stars by the
Mississippi Association of
Coaches. Robyn currently
resides in Pass Christian,
David Jerome Taylor (’03)
serves as the interim pastor
at First Southern Baptist
Church of Wickenburg, Ariz.
David met his wife, Melinda
Ulmer, at William Carey.
The Taylors were married
on May 22, 2004, and have
three children, Abigail, 7,
Jackson, 5, and Hannah, 3.
David attends Golden Gate
Baptist Theological Seminary,
working toward the Master of
