In the aftermath of the tornado that came through Hattiesburg in February,
Carey students, faculty, staff, and alumni committed time and energy to support
those affected by the storm. Groups of students worked to clear debris from
the University of Southern Mississippi campus and many area neighborhoods.
Additionally, the alumni relations office and other on-campus organizations held
drives for food and household items that were distributed through the Salvation
Army.
“Carey definitely stepped up to help our community,” said Emily Sheckells,
director of student activities, “even in the midst of finals!”
