Carey welcomed over 300 alumni back to campus during
Homecoming 2012. The weekend opened with a production
of
My Fair Lady
by the Winters School of Music and a theatre
production of
Beginnings
,
an original play by Jeanna Graves
(’94 & ’11)
and Tim Matheny (’95). From an alumni book
signing to athletic events, the weekend offered a multitude
of activities for alumni to enjoy the nostalgia of campus life.
Former homecoming queens returned to be recognized at
the Carey vs. Brewton Parker baseball game during the 2012
Homecoming Court presentation, and former yearbook and
Cobbler staffs met to celebrate their reunion. Friday noon
ushered in a delightful gathering of alumni celebrating the
50
th anniversary of their graduation from WCU,
and on Friday evening, five distinguished
alumni were inducted into the WCU
Alumni Hall of Fame. On Saturday,
Mississippi Woman’s College
alumni met to celebrate the
centennial anniversary of
MWC. The character brunch,
crawfish festival, baseball,
softball, alumni soccer
games, and poetry read
offered alumni and
students the opportunity
to enjoy a day of family
fun. The Homecoming
celebration
concluded with
a ceremony
honoring Coach
John O’Keefe and
inducting seven
alumni into the
WCU Sports
Hall of Fame.
