WCU School of Music Accreditation Re-affirmed by National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
Accreditation for William Carey University’s Winters School of Music has been re-affirmed by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Every 10 years, each NASM member institution thoroughly examines its own music study programs to make sure highest standards of excellence are maintained. Following the self-critique, the NASM Commission completes its own review, encouraging institutions to maintain the highest standards of excellence in advancing various music disciplines in higher education.
WCU was one of the first colleges in Mississippi to gain membership into NASM when Dr. Donald Winters was given the first report of good standing in 1966. For nearly 50 years, music faculty members, administrators, and students have maintained a tradition of excellence in the classroom, in the studio, and on the stage.
WCU currently offers degrees in church music, music education, music therapy, and music performance. The Winters School of Music will soon offer a Bachelor of Music Theatre degree, as well as expansion of the Master of Music degree to include an option for emphasis in vocal performance and emphasis in church music.
