WCU Exhibit Features Summer in Mississippi Exhibit

Hattiesburg, MS, June 24, 2014 -  The Sarah Ellen Gillespie Museum of Art at William Carey University is currently displaying a an exhibit “A Slice of Summer,” featuring works by Charles Ambrose, Walter Inglis Anderson, James McConnell Anderson, Leif Anderson, Christopher Stebly, and other Mississippi artists. The exhibit will hang until August 27.
Named for Hattiesburg native and art patron Sarah Gillespie, the museum houses the most complete collection of art produced by Mississippians in the 20th century. It includes over 600 works by Mississippi artists, and employs various media and a wide range of subject matter.
The exhibit is open to the public free of charge. During the summer, the museum is open by special appointment only by calling (601) 318-6542.
