Exhibit of Brian Blair Collection Opens at WCU

Hattiesburg, Miss., August 26, 2013 - The Lucile Parker Art Gallery at William Carey University will feature “An Exhibit of Works by Lucile Parker from the Brian Blair Collection” August 26 – September 20. An opening reception will be held on August 29 from 4:30 - 6 p.m. The gallery is now located at 512 Tuscan, on the bottom floor of the two-story building at the corner of Tuscan Avenue and Cherry Street.
Mrs. Lucile Parker, a Mississippi artist known for her botanical drawings and paintings and her portrait work, was responsible for organizing the art department at Carey and served as chairperson from 1974 - 1983. Mr. Blair, a local musician, gifted the university with the 16 paintings that make up the “Brian Blair Collection” in 2009.

The public is invited to the reception and exhibit admission is free. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 1 - 4 p.m. and by appointment. The gallery will be closed on September 2 for a university holiday. For more information about the exhibit call 601-318-6192.
