The William Carey University Winters School of Music and Ministry Studies hosted two performances of “Walk With Me: The Sixteenth Street Bombing” in Smith Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus on February 5.
“Walk With Me,” presented by the Walk With Me Foundation of Florence, Ala., is a musical narrative commemorating the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Birmingham’s Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, which occurred on September 15, 1963. The bombing resulted in the death of four girls and injured 22 others.

A women’s testimony night was held at William Carey University on January 29 with the goal of helping female students realize the words of Ephesians 3:18 and “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
The event, organized by Carey senior Ashley Huntington of Slidell, La., was held in the Student Conference Center on the Hattiesburg campus and welcomed over 150 female students.

The Sarah Ellen Gillespie Museum of Art at William Carey University’s Hattiesburg campus is hosting “Selections from the Gillespie Collection,” an exhibit of art by Mississippi-related artists, through March 31.
The exhibit includes 36 paintings by 34 artists either from Mississippi or with ties to Mississippi. Selected artists featured in the exhibit include Marie Atkinson Hull, Mildred Wolfe, Dollye Kirk, John Armistead, Dodie Dobson and Bobby Walters as well as others.

The William Carey University Tradition campus hosted on January 22 an opening reception for “Identity,” an exhibit of artwork done by senior art students.
The exhibit, which will run through February 9, features work by Hayley Benefield of Gulfport, Ashton Gibson of Gulfport, Jamie Suzanne Nash of Ocean Springs, LucyEllen Landry of Biloxi and Tessa Stockstill of Biloxi.

William Carey University will present Lisa Loomer’s “Bocon,” an award-winning fable filled with humor and enchantment, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10 and at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 14 in the Joe and Virginia Tatum Theatre on the Hattiesburg campus.

William Carey University hosted Scholarship Day for prospective freshman students with a composite ACT score of 24 and above and transfer students with a 3.5 grade point average and above at the Hattiesburg campus on January 23.

Personnel from the NASA DEVELOP National Program will be at William Carey University in the lobby of Green Science Hall from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 22 to discuss internship possibilities with interested students.
