Hattiesburg, MS, May 7, 2014 - Robert Rafael Sudduth of Gulfport, a second-year medical student at William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM), recently received The Randolph J. and Brenda H. Ross for Excellence in Anatomy Award. Dr. Jim Turner, dean of WCUCOM, presented it to him during Honors Day Convocation on April 30. The award, established by Dr. Ross and his wife, is given to the WCUCOM student who has the highest Grade Point Average in anatomy.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 29, 2014 - The William Carey University Alumni Association inducted five outstanding graduates into its Hall of Fame at an awards dinner on April 25 at Southern Oaks House and Garden. The alumni were Gerald C. “Jerry” Bracey (‘87), Dr. Leo Day (‘88), W. Michael Hannaford (‘85), Dora Dunkley Harbin (‘56), and Chief Judge L. Joseph Lee (‘69).
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 28, 2014 - William Carey University inducted 13 new members, all students on the Hattiesburg campus, into the Mississippi Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on April 2. Membership into Alpha Chi is limited to no more than 10 percent of the junior, senior, and graduate class members, and WCU students must have at least a 3.70 Grade Point Average on the 4.0 scale to qualify.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2014 - Toni Wild, an inspirational speaker who has survived two life-threatening diseases, spoke to Carey Scholars during their monthly Honors Colloquium at William Carey University on April 11. Toni, a nurse who also serves as a volunteer advocate for the American Heart Association and Donate Life Mississippi, told her incredible story of overcoming unthinkable hardships and how a heart transplant from organ donation saved her life.
