Hattiesburg, Miss., April 12, 2013 - Dr. James M. Turner, dean of the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM), was the recipient of the Alton B. Cobb Outstanding Master of Public Health Award at the University of Southern Mississippi’s annual College of Health Awards Night at the Thad Cochran Center on April 2. Dr. Michael Forster, dean of the College of Health at USM, and Dr. Ray Newman, chair of the Department of Community Health Sciences at USM, presented the award to Dr. Turner, who is currently a student in the Master of Health program.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 9, 2013 - William Carey University senior chemistry major Tyree Ratcliff of Hattiesburg has been selected to participate in the 2013 Vanderbilt Summer Undergraduate Research in Chemical Biology program in Nashville, Tenn., May 27 - August 2. Ratcliff was one of the 10 chosen out of 500 applicants for the program. The ten-week, hands-on course is designed to introduce chemistry, biochemistry and biology students to the research processes and the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary research.
Hattiesburg, Miss., March 26, 2012 - The William Carey University Theatre will present Moliere’s comedy Tartuffe April 11-13 and 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Joe and Virginia Tatum Theatre on the Hattiesburg campus. Tartuffe is one of the classical theatre’s greatest comedies, written by one whom most authorities consider to be France’s greatest comic playwright.

Hattiesburg, Miss., March 19, 2013 - The Clarence Dickinson Organ Festival, presented by William Carey University, will be held April 5-6 at First Baptist Church of Madison. The Clarence Dickinson Festival, named for the composer, arranger, author, educator, historian, and concert organist, was instituted about six years ago to encourage young students to study the organ and possibly pursue as a career choice. Walt Strony, a recitalist with Allen Organ Company, will be performing on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at FBC of Madison.
Hattiesburg, Miss., March 11, 2013 - William Carey University’s chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society was recently named a Star Chapter for the 2011-12 academic year.
Only 15 percent of the more than 300 Alpha Chi chapters receive this honor. In addition to individual academic standards, Alpha Chi members must meet group requirements to be recognized.
