Students interested in taking courses in a five-week format during July and early August may still register for the second summer term at both campuses of William Carey University.
The second summer term will begin on July 6 and run through August 7. Undergraduate courses in history, English, Spanish, business, education, health, music, biology, chemistry and psychology are available at the Hattiesburg campus while undergraduate courses in art and English are offered on the Tradition campus in Biloxi.

Dr. Ed Friedlander, a professor of biomedical sciences at the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine, recently received top accolades from an interactive health service for his efforts to assist people with health questions.

The William Carey University School of Education recently received a $296,200 grant from the Robert M. Hearin Foundation to create a Science and Mathematics Alternate Route Teacher, or SMART, program at the main campus in Hattiesburg and the Tradition campus in Biloxi.

Fifty-six junior ROTC cadets from six schools in the Jackson Public School District attended the Institute of Health Careers camp at the Hattiesburg campus of William Carey University from June 1-5.
The camp, now in its second year, is designed to help open doors for students interested in careers in health care, said Dr. Jessica Taylor, camp director and an assistant professor of physiology at Carey.

The William Carey University School of Music and Ministry is hosting the third annual “My First String Camp at Carey” from June 15-19 at the Hattiesburg campus.
The camp, a part of the FestivalSouth activities conducted in the Pine Belt area, offers Suzuki and elementary string classes for children from first to sixth grades in instruments including the violin, viola, cello and bass. No prior experience is necessary. Students can bring their own instruments or rent one for $10.

Twenty-three William Carey University student-athletes have been recognized by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics as Daktronics Scholar-Athletes with the Carey softball program coming in ahead of its sister softball programs in the United States.

Officials from William Carey University and the New Hope Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a center that will provide specialized educational services for youth with autism and training for local teachers on the Tradition campus in Biloxi.

Officials from Linyi University in Linyi, China, visited and toured the William Carey University Hattiesburg campus on May 19 as part of an ongoing relationship between the two universities.
During the visit, the Linyi delegation toured multiple campus attractions, including the Center for the Study of the Life and Work of William Carey and the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and met with university officials to affirm and discuss the universities' continuing partnership.

The second class of the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine, the second medical school in the state of Mississippi and the first school of osteopathic medicine, graduated during commencement exercises in Smith Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus on May 23.
