Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2014 - William Carey University hosted a reception to celebrate the opening of the 2014 Student Art Show and Competition in the Sarah Gillespie Museum of Art on April 10. The exhibit, which will hang until April 28, includes a variety of artwork including paintings, fine art prints, drawings, photography, sculpture, graphic design, 3-D pieces and mixed media by art students from both the Hattiesburg and Tradition campuses.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2013 - William Carey University students Megan Bourne of Columbia and Shelby Barrett of Lumberton were both awarded scholarships at the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society Convention in St. Louis, Mo., March 27-29. Bourne, a senior art major, won the National H.Y. Benedict Fellowship ($2,500) for her paper Anish Kapoor. Barrett, a senior biology major, won the Region III Scholarship ($500) for her paper The American Oyster and Its Many Roles in the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 14, 2014 - Faculty and students from the year William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM) conducted a Human Body Fair for with kindergarten students on April 8 at Oak Grove Primary School. A generous donation from HMC will fund the perpetual endowment, which will award one scholarship per academic year to a deserving student at William Carey University who meets certain criteria.

Emma Oberdick of Wadsworth, Ill., won 1st place in Sophomore Women. Emma is a student of Dr. Connie Roberts, professor of music. Austin Williams of Carriere won 3rd place in Junior Men and Stephen Kelly of Starkville won 4th place in Senior Men. Williams and Kelly are students of Graham Anduri.
