Hattiesburg, Miss., April 22, 2014 - The Winters School of Music will present the musical Camelot during Homecoming 2014. Performances will be held for the general public on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 at 2 p.m. in Smith Auditorium in the Thomas Fine Arts Center.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2014 - Toni Wild, an inspirational speaker who has survived two life-threatening diseases, spoke to Carey Scholars during their monthly Honors Colloquium at William Carey University on April 11. Toni, a nurse who also serves as a volunteer advocate for the American Heart Association and Donate Life Mississippi, told her incredible story of overcoming unthinkable hardships and how a heart transplant from organ donation saved her life.
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2014 - Dr. Janet Williams, RN, PhD, dean of the William Carey University School of Nursing, was recently appointed by Governor Phil Bryant to serve on the State Board of Nursing. She has served in the school of nursing for over 20 years as a teacher and administrator, and most recently, as dean.
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2014 - Dr. Italo Subbarao, associate professor of medicine and associate dean of planning, assessment, and competency development at William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM), will participate in the development of the 2014 National Health Security Preparedness Index (NHSPI) by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). The exhibit, which will hang until April 28, includes a variety of artwork including paintings, fine art prints, drawings, photography, sculpture, graphic design, 3-D pieces and mixed media by art students from both the Hattiesburg and Tradition campuses.
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2013 - William Carey University students Megan Bourne of Columbia and Shelby Barrett of Lumberton were both awarded scholarships at the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society Convention in St. Louis, Mo., March 27-29. Bourne, a senior art major, won the National H.Y. Benedict Fellowship ($2,500) for her paper Anish Kapoor. Barrett, a senior biology major, won the Region III Scholarship ($500) for her paper The American Oyster and Its Many Roles in the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 14, 2014 - Faculty and students from the year William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM) conducted a Human Body Fair for with kindergarten students on April 8 at Oak Grove Primary School. The fair consisted of hands-on teaching experiences with the children to teach them about how their senses work and how to keep themselves healthy.

A generous donation from HMC will fund the perpetual endowment, which will award one scholarship per academic year to a deserving student at William Carey University who meets certain criteria.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 7, 2014 - Three William Carey University music students received honors at the annual National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Conference and Competition held at Belhaven College in Jackson March 21-22. Emma Oberdick of Wadsworth, Ill., won 1st place in Sophomore Women. Emma is a student of Dr. Connie Roberts, professor of music. Austin Williams of Carriere won 3rd place in Junior Men and Stephen Kelly of Starkville won 4th place in Senior Men. Williams and Kelly are students of Graham Anduri.
