Hattiesburg, MS, June 16, 2014 - A group from William Carey University’s Baptist Student Union left on June 13 for an 18-day mission trip to Brazil. While there, the group is partnering with the International Mission Board (IMB) as part of “The Cross at the Cup” ministry. Student volunteers from all over the U.S. will minister to indigenous people groups and orphanages, as well as those in Brazil for the FIFA World Cup June 12 - July 13. The WCU BSU group will have an opportunity to attend some of the World Cup matches, as well.

Hattiesburg, MS, June 13, 2014 - William Carey University held the 2014 Bobby Halford Baseball Day Camp this week, June 9-13, at WCU’s Kennedy Sports Complex. The camp allows young players, ages 7-12, to improve their skills and learn new techniques. Halford said that the camp covers a wide variety of topics, including infield and outfield play as well as batting technique. He and the other coaches teach these young boys the proper way to hit, run, catch and throw, while giving individual pointers for personal improvement.
Hattiesburg, MS, June 13, 2014 - William Carey University held the annual Softball Day Camp at Carey’s Kennedy Sports Complex, June 10-12, allowing girls of all ages to learn new techniques and practice their game. The camp was instructed by WCU Head Softball Coach Wendy Hogue along with Assistant Coach Craig Fletcher and a group of current and former Carey softball players.
