Hattiesburg, Miss., July 30, 2013 - The William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM) welcomed new medical students with orientation activities beginning July 29. Included in the three-day orientation schedule are welcoming sessions, distribution of medical instruments, lectures on study skills, overviews of courses, a student organization fair, a breakfast sponsored by Crowne Apartments, and a Mississippi State Medical Association membership recruitment reception.

Hattiesburg, Miss., July 30, 2013 - Approximately 500 students will receive degrees at William Carey University in one of four graduation ceremonies August 9-10. Dr. Tommy King, president of WCU, will preside at the ceremonies, which are for undergraduate and graduate students of the New Orleans, Hattiesburg, and Tradition campuses.
The ceremony for students on the New Orleans campus is Friday, August 9, at 5 p.m. in Leavell Chapel at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The speaker for the ceremony is Dr. Janet Williams, dean of the WCU School of Nursing.

Kansas City, Mo. July 15, 2013 - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 898 programs have been named 2012-13 NAIA Scholar-Teams. William Carey University was well represented with six programs selected as a NAIA Scholar Team.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade-point average includes all varsity student-athletes listed on the Official NAIA Eligibility Certificate.
