Hattiesburg, Miss., January 25, 2013 - Dr. Clarke Millette, professor of anatomy at William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM), has been selected to serve as a grant application reviewer for the Patient Center Oriented Research Initiative (PCORI) Program. PCORI is a national program that was established by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to fund major efforts intended to improve the American health care system. The program is governed by a 21-member Board of Governors and a 17-member Methodology Committee, which are appointed by the U.S.
Hattiesburg, Miss., January 23, 2013 - William Carey University will host the 4th Annual Hoops for Habitat featuring the Harlem Wizards on Friday, February 8 in the WCU gymnasium. The Harlem Wizards, a professional performance basketball team, will square off against the Habitat Hoopsters, a team including volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, The Arc, the Boys & Girls Club, The Children’s Center, The DuBard School, and Homes of Hope. All proceeds will go towards Habitat for Humanity’s spring and summer projects.

Hattiesburg, Miss., January 10, 2013 - The Lucile Parker Art Gallery at William Carey University will host a reception to celebrate the opening of the exhibit “Transformation: Three Women, the Alchemy of Friendship: Clay, Paper, and Fiber” on Thursday, January 17, from 5-6 p.m. The exhibit, which is on display January 14-31 (except January 21 for a holiday), features ceramics, works on paper, and fiber art by Claudia Cartee, Barbara-Ann Carver-Hunt, and Amanda Lovitt-Call. Hattiesburg, Miss., December 20, 2012 - William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM) student Whitney Danjack “Dan” Lynch of Seminary recently received The Lois S. McKenzie Humanitarian COM Restricted Scholarship. Chosen by the dean of the WCUCOM, the scholarship is awarded to a top second - year WCUCOM student from South Mississippi who shows an interest in practicing medicine in Mississippi and working with the elderly. The scholarship was established by Lois S. McKenzie’s son, Joel McKenzie of Foxworth.
Hattiesburg, Miss., December 20, 2012 - William Carey University inducted 23 new members, all students on the Hattiesburg campus, into the Mississippi Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on December 19. Membership into Alpha Chi is limited to no more than 10 percent of the junior, senior, and graduate class members, and WCU students must have at least a 3.70 Grade Point Average on the 4.0 scale to qualify.
