WCU to Host Piano Recital

Hattiesburg, MS, January 12, 2012 – Pianist Dr. Hui-Ting Yang of Troy University in Alabama will present a piano recital at William Carey University on January 19 at 7 p.m. in Smith Auditorium.

The program will include “Sonata, Op. 90” by Ludwig van Beethoven, “Estampes” by Claude Debussy, “Poetické nálady (Poetic Tone Pictures), Op. 85” and “Výběr (Selections)” by Antonín Dvořák, “Point and Line to Plane” piano solo by Clifton Callender and “Ballade in A-flat Major, Op. 47” by Frédéric Chopin.

Originally from Taiwan, Dr. Yang has received degrees from Florida State University, Ohio University and Taipei Municipal Teacher’s College. In June 2010, she performed seven piano solo recitals in the Czech Republic and has also performed at numerous other conferences and festivals. Her recordings are available through Kum Seoung Records, Arco Diva and the online journal “Musical Perspectives.” Her book, “Composing Taiwan: Selected Taiwanese Art Songs of Hsiao Tyzen,” was published by VDM Publishing House, Ltd.

Dr. Yang currently serves as the coordinator of the piano department for Troy University, where she received the Faculty Senate Excellence Award in 2009.
