Auditions and interviews for cast and crew positions for the 41st season of Carey Dinner Theatre will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on March 12 in the Joe and Virginia Tatum Theatre on the Hattiesburg campus of William Carey University.

Eleven William Carey University students were inducted into the Alpha Gamma Gamma chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society on Jan. 22.
 
Inductees include Jared Best of Nashville, Tennessee; Katelyn Courtney of Purvis; Sarah Gibson of Petal; Casey Grinder of Carriere; William Kelly of Aberdeen; Allison McSwain of Petal; Miranda Rester of Sumrall; Rebecca Delaney Smith of Lucedale; Colleen Stewart of Laurel; Katharine Thompson of Columbia; and Elizabeth Whipps of Diamondhead.

William Carey University will hold General Registration Day for the spring trimester at both the Hattiesburg campus and the Tradition campus in Biloxi on Feb. 18.
 
Admissions, business and financial aid personnel will be available from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Hattiesburg campus and from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Tradition campus.

William Carey University will hold open tryouts for the inaugural women’s volleyball team on Feb. 19 at Presbyterian Christian High School in Hattiesburg.
 
Registration will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the high school, which is located at 221 Bonhomie Road.

The William Carey University School of Education sponsors a float in Hattiesburg’s annual Christmas parade. But instead of throwing beads or candy from the float, Carey students, faculty and staff give out books to every child along the parade route. The project not only benefits the children and families who receive the books, but also the students in Carey’s teacher preparation program. The parade project is one of many community service initiatives of the university’s chapter of Phi Delta Kappa.

William Carey University’s Carey Dinner Theatre was awarded the second annual Pine Belt Image Award during the Pine Belt chapter of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi’s annual awards banquet at Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg on January 19.

Seventeen works by William Carey University art students have been selected for inclusion in the upcoming Mississippi Collegiate Art Competition, a contest held annually among both public and private universities and colleges throughout the state.

Thirty-eight William Carey University students were inducted into the Mississippi Beta chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on January 14.

William Carey University has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a leader in Mississippi and in the United States in providing excellent online graduate education programs.
 
Carey is ranked number 25 on the 2016 Best Online Graduate Education Programs list, which was released on December 12 and ranks 267 institutions from across the country. Carey also tied with the University of Mississippi as the state’s top school in the rankings.

The William Carey University Sarah Ellen Gillespie Museum of Art will host a new exhibit, “Mississippi Landscape: An Artistic Legacy,” from January 25 through February 29.
 
The opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 4:30 until 6 p.m. on January 26 at the museum, which is located on the Hattiesburg campus adjacent to Smith/Rouse Library.
