Hattiesburg, Miss., March 19, 2013 - The Clarence Dickinson Organ Festival, presented by William Carey University, will be held April 5-6 at First Baptist Church of Madison. The Clarence Dickinson Festival, named for the composer, arranger, author, educator, historian, and concert organist, was instituted about six years ago to encourage young students to study the organ and possibly pursue as a career choice. Walt Strony, a recitalist with Allen Organ Company, will be performing on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at FBC of Madison.
Hattiesburg, Miss., March 11, 2013 - William Carey University’s chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society was recently named a Star Chapter for the 2011-12 academic year.
Only 15 percent of the more than 300 Alpha Chi chapters receive this honor. In addition to individual academic standards, Alpha Chi members must meet group requirements to be recognized.

A question and answer session followed the lecture in the Lucile Parker Gallery for students interested in health care careers.
Hattiesburg, Miss., March 5, 2013 - The Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation’s Ann Morris Memorial Fund recently awarded $10,000 to the William Carey University Quality of Life Project, which pairs music therapy students with adults with intellectual developmental disabilities in activities designed to enrich their lives. The project has been in operation since August 2009.

First to eighth graders from area schools were invited with their teachers and parents to attend this program. Hattiesburg, Miss., March 1, 2013 - The William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM) Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) is participating in a new volunteer project: leading residents of the Wesley Manor Retirement Community of Hattiesburg in an exercise program. Twice a month, WCUCOM SOMA members lead residents through a 30-minute routine.

Dr. Janet Williams, Dean of the Joseph and Nancy Fail School of Nursing, announced the establishment of the Healthcare Education Simulation program on the Hattiesburg campus. The first class will be admitted for the Fall 2013 term.

Hattiesburg, Miss., February 27, 2013 - Auditions for cast and interviews with crew for the 38th season of Carey Dinner Theatre (CDT) are Saturday, March 23 beginning at 10 a.m. in the Joe and Virginia Tatum Theatre on the Hattiesburg campus of William Carey University.
CDT presents two musicals in June and July. Each member of the company, both performers and staff, is paid. The financial package includes salary, tips (company members serve during dinner), and housing.
