William Carey University Cuts Ribbon on New College of Osteopathic Medicine

Hattiesburg, MS, July 30, 2010 - Dr. Hugh Dickens, trustee; William Ray, trustee; Dr. Garry Breland, vice president for academic affairs; Dr. Michael Murphy, dean of the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine; Gary Fordham, chairman of the WCU Board of Trustees; Dr. Tommy King, president; and Dr. Ralph Noonkester, president emeritus; cut the ribbon during the dedication of the new William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg.

More than 200 guests, including Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree, retired federal judge and trustee Charles Pickering; Mississippi state auditor Stacy Pickering and other dignitaries were in attendance. Carey’s $11 million College of Osteopathic Medicine will consist of three new connected buildings. The Academic building is now open and the Medical Arts building will be opening in August. The Asbury Administration Center is scheduled for completion in December.  The WCU-COM is one of 26 such institutions in the United States.
