Field Biology Class Gets Hands-On Education

Hattiesburg, MS, July 22, 2010 - William Carey University students Armanda Aultman of Silver Creek; Emily Cobia of Sumrall; Ida Hunt of Franklinton, La.; and Renee Extine of Petal observe and report characteristics of plants during the ten day Field Biology class in the Delta.

This unique class teaches students to recognize native and exotic plants and animals, identify habitat types found in Mississippi, and correlate habitat types with the distribution of plant and animal species. The field experience held at Leroy Percy State Park and Tishomingo State Park and directed by Dr. Thomas Rauch, chair of the department of biology.
