William Carey University Music Students Win National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition
HATTIESBURG, Miss., Apr 25, 2008 - Five William Carey University music students received awards at the Mississippi State National Association of Teachers of Singing competition held at Belhaven College in April.
Elizabeth Goff of Moss Point placed first in the junior women’s division and fourth in upper level women’s musical theatre division.
Suzanne Adcock of Crestview, Fla. placed first in the senior women’s division.
Jennifer Hayes of Hattiesburg placed second in lower student adult division.
Mary Whipps of Diamondhead placed second in the freshman women’s division.
Christopher Napier of Laurel placed second in the junior men’s division.
Michael Ginn of Kokomo, made the semi-final round of the junior men and upper level music theatre divisions. Kathie Boyer of Slidell and Jillayne Campbell of Pensacola, Fla. made the semi-finals in the freshmen division.
Goff, Whipps, Napier and Adcock are students of Dr. Connie Roberts, professor of music. Hayes and Boyer are students of Josephine D’Arpa, associate professor of music.
Other students competing included Sarah Robinson of Laurel; Bethany Ingram of Winter Park, Fla.; Jaime Smyth of Hartselle, Ala.; Jonathan Langan of Jasper, Ala.; and Tyree Howard of Tylertown.
