William Carey Unvisersity once again offers students a unique learning opportunity

Hattiesburg, Miis., April 25, 2008 - Following the success of offering classes during a newly instituted J-Term this past January, William Carey University's Hattiesburg, Gulfport and New Orleans campuses will once again offer students a unique learning opportunity with May-Term classes May 12 through 23.

"Many of these classes are not offered during the regularly scheduled calendar year," said Dr. Tommy King, president of WCU. "Students are looking for a variety of classes and learning experiences. By designing the J-Term and May-Term schedules in this way, we can offer students a myriad of opportunities to meet their educational goals."

The May-Term courses include a hands-on Field Biology class which will be offered May 11 through 24 at Tishimingo and Leroy Percy State Parks.

Students must meet criteria established by teaching faculty which includes an application process.  Introduction to Gerontology, Introduction to Chinese Culture and Language, Introduction to the Old Testament, Music Technology, Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum, Performance Assessment (education), Web Page Design, Health and Exercise for a New Lifestyle, Introduction to Audio/Video Production, Integration of Content Curriculum, Current Trends in Reading,

Techniques in Molecular Biology, Organizational Procedures for Special Education and United States to 1865 (history) will be offered on the Hattiesburg campus May 12 - 23. Meeting times vary depending on the individual class.

The Gulfport campus will offer Diagnosis and Correction of Reading Disability, Multiple Intelligences, Modern and Contemporary Drama, Crisis Counseling, and Multicultural Education.

The New Orleans campus will offer Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Logic, Introduction to Social Problems, Music Appreciation, New Orleans History, Fitness and Stress, Stretching and Strengthening, and Health and Exercise for a New Lifestyle.

Incoming freshmen, junior and community college students must complete the admission process before registering for classes. Advisement and registration for the May-Term and other summer term courses in June and July is April 7 through 18.
