Message from the Chair

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. The Department of Psychology and Counseling housed in the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences at William Carey University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students for rewarding careers in the helping professions or advanced studies in a number of fields. The department consists of experienced faculty dedicated to fostering an environment in which students can gain an appreciation for scientific inquiry and solidify a professional identity.

Undergraduate majors in psychology and gerontology as well as graduate study in counseling psychology provide students with the opportunity to develop a foundation for understanding the theory and practice of the behavioral sciences through hands-on experiences within the traditional classroom and unique field settings.  Some of the settings in which our students gain experience include psychiatric hospitals, adult daycares, addiction treatment facilities, nursing homes, adolescent offender programs, group homes, residential mental retardation facilities, sheltered workshops, and medical clinics.

Please browse our website and catalogs to learn more about the study of psychology at William Carey and then contact us to arrange a campus visit. We look forward to meeting you.
